Jesse Malowitz
December 2018
Jesse Malowitz, Board Member, Hillel of Rockland
Graduate of RCC and SUNY Albany, District Representative for Congresswoman Nita Lowey
Favorite Hillel memory:
I'll never forget when we played basketball against RCC's basketball team and putting up a good fight while being coached by the Jewish Jordan himself, Tamir Goodman
Hillel events I still attend:
While my schedule doesn't leave much time for social events, I try to go to Shabbat dinners, Sukkot at the Olivers, things like that.
First thing I'd do as President of the USA:
Commission a bi-partisan commission to examine and address the rise in anti-Semitism.
Favorite Bible character and why:
This may seem corny, but when I was a kid I loved reading the name Jesse in the Haggadah. I appreciated it even more when I learned he was the father of the most famous king in the history of the Jewish people.
Things I'd take if I were stuck on a desert island:
For the book I'd go with Ready Player One. It's got references to some of my favorite movies, a compelling story, and a hero I share a birthday with. What better way to keep hope alive than a story of someone who comes from nothing beating all odds? For food I'd have to say chicken. And for an app, Google Maps, of course!
Tempermental?
That's mostly a myth, but I have been known to passionately defend what I believe in.
Words of wisdom to Hillel students?
Stay involved, give back when you can, and appreciate having such a vibrant Jewish life on campus.
