Rafi Cohn
October 2018
Q & A with Rafi Cohn, RCC Class of 2019 and newly elected President, Hillel student board
Apparently, you're quite the runner, please elaborate.
I don’t know if I would consider myself a runner, but I do love running. When I need to clear my mind on a stressful day, running has become my form of meditation.
Why did you want to become President of Hillel and what do you hope to achieve?
I interact with people I wouldn’t have met otherwise and create programming that gives students a positive campus experience. I hope to work with the rest of the amazing student board to bring new people to Hillel and make our events more inclusive.
Your mother is an animal therapist, does she practice on you?
My mom has the coolest job out there, she does Animal Assisted Therapy. And no, she doesn’t practice on me, however I have worked alongside her on many occasions.
What brought you on your most recent trip to Israel?
Last Purim, dressed as an “Amalek Exterminator,” I won the costume contest at Hillel of Rockland’s amazing Purim party, with the grand prize a free trip to Israel, where I went to the Kotel and the Cave of Machpelah in Hebron, and learned in a yeshiva, among other things.
Favorite Hillel event so far?
The painting workshop with the Pop Art Rabbi. My painting is hanging in my room.
Weirdest sandwich you have ever eaten?
Hmm, not sure, but the Koraich sandwich at the Passover Seder is pretty peculiar.
RCC’s best feature, besides Hillel?
It’s so close to home!
